SUE MARTIN MCCABE LIBRARY:  Day with a Perfect Stranger by David Gregory. If you haven’t read Dinner with a Perfect Stranger already, I suggest you read it before you read this book. Day will stand alone, but I think it is more fun if you read Dinner first. Both these books are quick reads so you can finish them in one afternoon. But the power of the conversation in both is stunning!

You may understand Mattie Cominsky’s frustration at suddenly having a God- believing husband. She wonders where this came from. It is not what she bargained for. At first she seems a little whiney and a believer might think this is a lot of fuss over a perfectly natural thing. But Mattie certainly does not see it that way. This is a story about a business trip to Tucson AZ for our heroine and her seating partners.   Not only does she sit with him on her first leg of the trip, but lo and behold, they are seated together on the second flight! Mattie is not sure she is happy about this arrangement or not. But the trip and conversation carry on.

Gregory can certainly pack a punch is a small amount of space [about 100 pages.] Those of us who have read it continue to be surprised that so much of value can be said so simply in so little time – the evening of a dinner or the time of a day long flight. Enjoy!
